We believe that educational development is vital to growth in our Christian faith. We have many avenues for Christian nurture available at F-V UMC! This leaflet provides a brief description of our Sunday morning possibilities for your spiritual enrichment and growth. Information about non-Sunday morning opportunities is available through our church office. Each group has a unique flavor and provides opportunities to enhance your Christian journey. May you be open to discovering wonderful friends and opportunities for meaningful discussions, through the diverse ministries of our Sunday school.

Lent 2012
Table of Grace
Lent prepares God's people to celebrate Christ's death and Resurrection, so why shouldn't we focus on the table which reminds us of exactly that? Lent leads up to Easter just as the Last Supper led up to the cross.
The Communion Table - God's table - centers, transforms and invites us to participate in Christ's work (his past, present and future work)...but what does that mean for worship? Does it matter for our ordinary Tuesdays?
We'll be delving into prayers, practical questions, hymns, and a touch of history, so come sit with us as we take a look at the many facets and deep roots of this rich and vivid tradition. It'll be Communion like you've never seen it before!
Lenten Class meets in room 117/119 at 9:30 am
Starting Feb 26, the discussion will run for six weeks (ending on April 1)
Adele Prince - 9:30 a.m. in room 118
We are a class of senior ladies, still caring and growing in Christ, who are still active in
our love and service to our Lord. This class has been in existence for over 50 years. All
are welcome, coming from any place in your spiritual journey. We use the International Bible
Studies Quarterly and interactive discussion of the material for a lively class experience.
Our classroom format is comfortable and easy to interact with. Come and join us soon!
Bob Marley - 9:30 a.m. in room 122
The Bob Marley Sunday School Class is a group of couples and singles in the 50+ age group studying the international Sunday school material. The class features studying the scriptures and much discussion based on the lessons.
The Bob Marley Class spends all of their collections on families in need and currently has adopted three deployed servicemen and their families. This has been a very rewarding mission for the class. We have also supported Southern Wake Faith Community in Action and The Red Cross among others.
We are a warm and welcoming class and hope you will stop by for a visit. We meet in Room 122 at 9:30 am on Sunday morning. Bob Sheets is our regular teacher and he is assisted by Mike Allen and Darrell Sapp.
Christian Fellowship - 9:30 a.m. in room 121
The focus for this group is development of Christian relationships through Bible Study,
fellowship, mission outreach and prayer. They enjoy outside get-togethers, working in service
for others and offer a warm invitation to join them. Leadership for the group is shared on a
rotating basis.
CLAY - 9:30 a.m. in room 124
Comprised of couples and singles across a range of ages, our Christians Learning & Yearning class offers an exciting, interactive, and thought provoking environment in which to study and discuss a wide range of religious topics & how they affect our everyday lives. Whether we are studying a book in the Bible or an application series, we use a variety of materials to guide our discussions, from study guides and books to audio tapes and video series. We regularly lift our celebrations and concerns to the Lord in prayer, actively look for ways to support the ministries in our church and to serve those in need throughout our community. We also enjoy socializing in Christian fellowship.
Koinonia - 9:30 a.m. in room 117
The Koininia Sunday School class is a fluid collection of educated professionals, single and married, who come together to discussion and debate scripture and the Christian life. We decide by consensus what we will study. We use both book studies and DVD based studies. There is no one leader for our class, we all take turns leading the class.
Seekers - 9:30 a.m. in room 123
The Seekers class offers lively discussions and frequent socials. It is open to people of all
ages. Teams of teachers share in leading their journey through the Bible.

The Upper Room Bible Study class is for the beginning novice Bible study student as well as
the more experienced students of God's Word. We will focus on the Upper Room Scripture
selection and commentary for each Sunday. For those of you that have recently been through
our Connectings classes this is an easy way to meet new people and get a feel for a short
term Bible Study for the future.
At The Well - 11:00 a.m. in room 117
"At the Well" is an opportunity to listen, learn and share with others in an effort to further our discipleship in
Jesus. This time of study and sharing is open to all and is a great next step for those attending our 9:30 worship
service who desire a deeper connection to other believers in our faith community and to grow in their faith. We
will alternate between diving into scripture for short 4-6 week studies and book studies that spur us to a more
complete understanding of the "Good News" Christ offers us and what God desires as our response to it. Like a modern
day water cooler in the workplace, we encourage you to find yourself "at the well" where life more abundantly is
discussed and gained!
Class study beginning January 1, 2012 - For the 5 Sundays in January, we will turn to the Book of James and cover a
chapter a week for this letter to the early Jewish Christians; most probably written by James the brother of Jesus
Christ. The Book of James is believed to have been one of the earliest letters written in the New Testament and
addresses very similar trials we suffer today by encouraging the early Christians to stay strong in their faith and
be sure to keep their deeds in line with their faith as a response to what Jesus Christ had done for them. We hope
you will consider participating in this month long study on Sundays at 11 AM in Room 117.
Awakening - 11:00 a.m. in room 125
Awakening Sunday School class is for young adults is meeting weekly on Sunday mornings. Come and join our
community as we delve into our faith and share in relationships with each other.

Back To Basics - 11:00 a.m. in room 124
This class will focus on the appointed lectionary texts that are read each week during worship.
The lectionary is a 3-year cycle of readings drawn from the Old Testament, the Psalms, the
Epistles, and the Gospels. Our hope is that this class will deepen our experience of
worship each week, and enhance our efforts at Christian discipleship, personally and
corporately. All ages and groups are welcome to join.
Pura Vida with Christ (Pura Vida = Full of Life) - 11:00 a.m. in room 123
The Pura Vida class Mission is to reach out to adventurous congregation members who want to Love, Learn, Serve and Share God through study and community outreach. This class is open to Senior High students through adults for both men and women. We do a variety of 8 -10 week studies focused on finding and experiencing God in the outdoors and in mission outreach. Our mission outreach is the focal "sponsor" group for outdoor ministries, activities, and adventures within the church. Examples include hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing, etc. Facilitated by multiple individuals as necessary based on the study taking place at that time.
Christians Under Construction - 11:00 a.m. Room 118
This class uses different DVD-based series to inform, educate, and most importantly, create discussion. Past studies
have included Framing Your Worldview, Rick Warren, the Nooma series, Jesus and the Parables, What's So Amazing About
Grace, and Intersecting Culture. This class is open to all ages and is led by Charlie Gray. The next study is titled
Ed's Story; a six week DVD based study offered by the Christians Under Construction Sunday school class that will

Teens (6th-8th) gather for one of two lively discussion-oriented sessions each week
in room 126.
Senior High (9:30/11:00)
Through discovery and discussions of life application and Bible studies our youth
(9th - 12th) learn more about Christian discipleship and how it applies to their
lives. Classes are in room 127.
Infants, Toddlers, and Children
Class assignments are based on school age levels. Sunday school teachers strive to model Christian discipleship by reaching out in traditional and non-traditional settings.
We provide two nurseries: one for infants, one for young toddlers (those just starting to walk) and one for older toddlers (those that are walking and are 2 or younger). Children ages two-four are in our Sunday school preschool classes. Through discovery learning experiences the children explore God's creation and love for the world. Our school-aged children (K-5th) grow in an understanding of oneself in relationship to God, to others, and to the world discovering the joys of Christian discipleship within a supportive community of faith. Classes for all children are available at both 9:30 & 11:00 AM.

hired to support children with medical needs and a paging system that allows parents to take a pager into
worship or adult Sunday School classes for peace of mind.
